Jean Wetzel, Ph.D, Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist (CAS) has been under the spell of the aesthetic and wisdom traditions of Asia since the age of twelve. A professor of Asian Art History for 30 years, she first turned to yoga as a means of balancing her need for health with the relentless demands of academic life. The curiosity of a lifelong student and Jean’s passion for yogic and Vedic studies then led her to the study of Ayurveda and Jyotish (Vedic astrology). Jean was a yoga teacher from 2004-2019, an Ayurvedic practitioner from 2007-2017 and has been studying and practicing Vedic astrology since 2009. With deepest gratitude to all of her teachers, living and ancient, Jean seeks to share the wisdom, beauty and profound value of these traditional practices with enthusiastic students and clients.

Kirtan is a form of bhakti (“Bhak-tee”), the yoga of devotion; jnana (“gyah-nah”), the yoga of wisdom; and mantra, the yoga of sound. Mantras are words, phrases, and syllables that are repeated until they become integrated into the chanter’s consciousness. Practitioners of kirtan believe that this sacred, traditional practice allows them to access inner peace, calm, connection, and non-thinking.
All are welcome; no experience necessary.
Offered on a donation basis.

Given the rapid pace of contemporary life, the push to experience success, and the complexity of the times in which we live, anxiety is a natural response to circumstances that show up in life. Though for many, anxiety can become a regular experience that interferes with everyday life.
Rooted in the ancient teachings of Yoga, meditation practice is becoming prescribed, at an ever-increasing rate, to help manage the effects of anxiety on the mind and body. We all have a yearning to live a life of joy. Yoga philosophy and practice give us a path of spiritually conscious fulfilled living and ultimate freedom from limitations in the mind.
All are most warmly welcome to join Rev. Julie Hitchcock for this Introduction to Meditation class.
Preregistration here is kindly appreciated.
