A Simple Introduction to Vedic Astrology – CLASS CANCELED. To be rescheduled in 2020. @ Awakening
Sep 21 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

This class, taught over two Saturdays by Jean Wetzel, will be a very simple and brief introduction to the ancient astrology of India, known as jyotish. We will discuss the basics of looking at a North Indian astrological birth chart, as well as looking at some charts of famous people as models for interpretation. Primary topics will be astrological signs, houses, and planets and how to assess strengths and weaknesses in an individual’s chart.

The text book for the class will be “Vedic Astrology: Simply Put”, by William Levacy. It can be purchased through Amazon or any other online retailer. (There will not be any books available at Awakening. Please purchase your book ahead of time.)

For those who would like to dive deeper into to the topic “Light on Life” by Hart de Fouw is suggested reading.

This six hour course is offered with a suggested donation of $50.00. Register here.

Living Consciously While Growing Older with Berta Parrish @ Awakening
Oct 12 @ 10:00 am – 12:30 pm

The evening of our lives offers different trials and triumphs than early adulthood. By now, we have learned that we cannot control what happens to us and our loved ones, but we can choose how we respond to these circumstances. We can transform the inevitable physical, psychological, and spiritual challenges of aging into opportunities for growth and satisfaction. In the following class sessions, we will primarily focus on how cultivating the virtues (yamas) of truthfulness (satya) and non-attachment (aparigraha) can help us deal with hurt and loss to increase peace and joy.

  • 12th – Tell it Like it Is (and Was)
  • 19th — Shed Past and Present Excess Baggage

Come ready to reflect, to share, and to harmonize your inner and outer relationships.

The cost for the two class sessions is $40 and can be paid at the first session. Register by  emailing us here.  Please bring paper and a pen.

Berta Parrish, Ed.D, is a retired college educator, writer, and a certified Conscious Aging Facilitator with a strong background in Jungian and Archetypal Psychology. The Jewel of Abundance – A Reading and Book Signing Event with Ellen Grace O’Brian @ Coalesce Book Store
Nov 1 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The Jewel of Abundance: Finding Prosperity through the Ancient Wisdom of Yoga draws upon the ancient Vedic tradition of yoga philosophy and practice and shows how spirituality and earthly success can complement each other, leading to realization of the higher Self. O’Brian presents a clear explanation of both philosophy of yoga and the nuts and bolts of practice, such as setting up a daily meditation routine, incorporating mantras, discerning how to cooperate with universal principles for complete well-being, and cultivating mindfulness in action. Along the way, she illustrates her lessons with personal stories and timeless sayings from great sages, both Eastern and Western.

“The Jewel of Abundance is a useful antidote to the hypermaterialism that poisons modern life. And for those who seek the fulfillment of both their souls and their material desire, the book is a wellspring of inspiration and intelligent guidance.”
– from the foreword by Philip Goldberg, author of The Life of Yogananda

Join Ellen Grace O’Brian as she reads excerpts from her book.  There will be time for book signing.
